Terms of use
Last updated: before launch (the game is not live yet)
These terms apply when you use Scam Town at scamtown.ardianic.com. The game is run by Hoang Tran ("we"), based in the United Kingdom. By making an account you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the game.
1. Who can play
- You must be 13 or older.
- If you are under 18, or under the age of adulthood where you live, a parent or guardian should agree to these terms with you.
2. Your account
- Sign-up asks only for a username and a password. You get a recovery code once. Keep it safe, because we have no email to reset your password with. If you lose both, we can't get the account back.
- One person per account. Don't share, sell or buy accounts.
- You can delete your account at any time from Privacy and cookies, Delete my account.
3. The game is a game
- Scam Town is a training game. Scams inside it are part of play, are built only from the game's fixed blocks, and use invented names,
.testaddresses and fictional numbers. - Some residents of each town are run by the game, so there is always someone to meet and write to.
- Coins, levels and items have no money value. They can't be bought, sold, traded or exchanged for anything outside the game.
- In the game, other players can take your coins and items with a scam. That is how the game works, and we don't give back what was lost in play.
- Nothing in the game is advice. For a real scam, use the help page and contact your bank or the police.
4. Rules
You must not:
- pick a username that is rude or hateful, that names a real company or person, or that contains a phone number, web address or other contact details;
- use the game, or anything learned in it, to scam real people;
- use bots, scripts or more than one account to gain an advantage;
- try to break, overload or get around the game or its security, or reach other players' accounts;
- copy the game's art, sounds or code to make your own copy of it.
Use the Report button on a player's card if someone breaks these rules.
5. What we can do
- We may change, reset or rebalance the game, including coins, levels and items.
- We may suspend or delete accounts that break these rules.
- We may close the game. If we do, we'll say so in the game first where we can.
6. Ads
The game shows ads from Google AdSense in grey boxes marked "Advertisement". Ads are not part of the game and we don't control their content, though we block categories that look like scams. The privacy page says how ads use data.
7. No guarantee
The game is free and provided as it is. We try to keep it running and correct, but we don't promise it will always be available or free of errors. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for losses caused by using the game. We don't exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to exclude. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the law where you live; if you are a consumer in the UK or the EU, you keep your consumer rights.
8. Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. For a big change, we'll say so in the game.
9. Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the UK or in the EU, you can also bring a claim in the courts where you live, and you keep the protection of your local law.
